Shadow volunteers are here to observe and learn, and will only participate in any activity when asked by a doctor or manager.
- I understand that although an animal may look harmless, it may not be, and animals in a hospital setting may bite or scratch without warning.
- I will not act on my own to participate in any treatments or activities.
- I will follow all safety rules to avoid injuries to myself or others.
- I understand that the employees at Cottonwood Animal Clinic will do their best to keep me out of harm's way, if I do incur any injuries while job shadowing, I will report them immediately to my supervisor or the clinic manager.
- I understand that I am not an employee of Cottonwood Animal Clinic and am not covered under any insurances while observing and shall not represent myself as an employee of the clinic in any manner.
- I also understand that all interactions that I observe will remain confidential in nature when pertaining to client names, patient cases, etc.
- I will conduct myself in a professional manner and will dress properly being neat and clean in appearance. Proper attire shall include: Jeans (no holes, rips or stains) or scrub pants, closed toed, non-slip shoes, nice shirt with sleeves, sweatshirt, scrub top or sweater may be worn, no tank tops. No large logos may be worn on any attire. Jewelry should be small and tasteful, no dangling earrings or necklaces. Hair should be clean and neat.
- I will participate in silent observation while the patient is being examined or in the presence of the client (patient owner).
- I will be expected to come to job shadow at all of the scheduled time/times, if I am unable to attend due to school closure or other reason, I will call the clinic at 620-442-8619 or notify a manager in advance, if it is a planned absence.
All high school volunteers will have a maximum of 6 hours per day/ 20 hours per week total time of shadowing.
